Windows and Linux

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

A few weeks ago, before I went on holiday (just before), my backup DNS server stopped working…  Just dead, PSU works, and no time to investigate. It’s a bit old, and I was itching to do another build, but I had a holiday to go on first.

Server down

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

My backup DNS server has gone down, permanently. The PSU works and yet it won’t switch on.

It’s not a power house, being a 533Mhz EPIA, but it was enough for the task. Making Fedora 8 look good

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

I’ve installed Fedora 8 under Sun’s VirtualBox (a superb VM in my opinion). Actually I did it a while ago, but I did make some notes at the time, on how to make it look good. I’d really like to delete that file, so what better way than to publish :-).

Encrypted root on Fedora 8

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

I’ve been experimenting with Linux distros lately. It’s all because of this web hosting, this server I built. I used Fedora 8 due to it’s packages being reasonably up to date, having the features I want as standard, and being rather stable. Ubuntu looks good, but I would have had to manually install so much software that I need, that it would have been a pain.
